Went and saw the new Indy movie today, was a good, dumb way to spend a couple of hours, which was pretty much what I was hoping for. The ending was a bit unexpected too - it really seems like there should be two more movies to explain why the hell... I can't say much more really without ruining the surprise. It was a little bemusing, but probably the better for it. Ignore what most of the critics are saying - if you like the previous three Indy movies, you'll like this one. Shia Labeouf is actually pretty well-cast as Mutt, playing a much better part than he did in Transformers, and Karen Allen looks pretty good for a 56-year-old.

But otherwise, there are a few too many CGI moments which fall into the uncanny valley in a kind of way, and apart from a little bit of work on Lebeouf's character and a few jibes/remarks that indicate that yes, Indiana Jones is now in his 60s, there's little, to no characterisation at all. But as I said before, it's a great way to spend a couple of hours, particularly if you watch it on a screen as huge as the one we did at Sylvia Park, and probably not what you're worrying about if you're laying down $15 to see an Indiana Jones film anyway. I liked it. Best scene? The 'dry' sand. Or the fridge.

This forum has some awesome album-art-photoshops which've given me much laughter recently, mostly this one.
