Why forcing the four-day week is a really bad idea
I have to get this off my chest, cause no one seems to have brought it up, not that I've read anyway. If a four-day week is forced, who's going to be forced to take the pay cut? Working people. Who can least afford a pay cut? Working people. Rich people making money off investments, etc get to stay rich and their incomes, untouched. And whose money is it that circulates around, keeping the economy going? Working people.

It's a scam, and a really bad idea.

I would be surprised if that would be how it worked. I imagine it would be offered to those people who would otherwise face redundancy. I don't think the government would want to force this on swathes of people because it couldnt stomach the bill.

From what I heard, the redundancy slush fund would pick up the extra day. Workers would not miss any money.

How would you suggest the government tackle the problem?

I'd be interested to see how we'd fare if these ideas were floated not as National policy or Labour policy, but just as debatable policy. Would the staunch Lefties say it was a viable idea? Would the Righties diss it?

Meanwhile it is most defo time to pay off the credit card and get out of debt. Now is not the time to be chained down.
